The Imago is the unconscious image of your ideal mate.
However, it actually does not describe your best match, but instead only the kind of person you will be the most attracted to.
The closer someone matches your Imago, the more you will feel attracted to them; the less so, the weaker the attraction. So, when people talk of moments when they “felt no chemistry” with someone, that person most likely did not fit their Imago close enough to spark any attraction. The most passionate relationships are typically between people who fit each other‘s Imago well.
Ideally, you find someone who fits your Imago more or less, but is also a good match for you in terms of psychological health, personal values, Socionics compatibility*, and so forth.
With the help of Harville Hendrix’s book Keeping the Love You Find, I have created an exercise that will show you what your Imago is like – including their MBTI and Enneagram type!

*The Imago is probably the biggest reason why Duality is not as common as it ideally would be. Because, the Imago does not always fit someone’s Dual.

No, not only. Those aspects are part of the Imago in terms of appearance. But there is also Imago traits related to behavior.

unfortunately my imago is ISTP. im infp 😦 idk why. theyre just so romantic to me. that whole quadra i love actually; so much chemistry. ENFJs, infjs, estps, istps. i just love Fe and Ni, Ti and Se too!!! hahah. but istps just make me so excited and fascinated; i’m so drawn to them. i feel so comfy with them. I wanna marry them, but got commitment/self esteem issues. they like strong girls. and well, I’m trying to be one, but it’s hard… my istp type 9 tho likes to listen to all my problems. he’s the best. i fell in love with an istp 6w5 in the past (he feels like sx/sp just like me, but that actually might be the problem) but he was too shy and so was I. the shared introversion though might be a problem (or a plus depending on the situation), I wish i could just be everything so I can have their heart. hm but maybe it’s just the idea of them. nah i feel like opposite quadras always feels exciting. my enfj sister and i never get sick of each other, we keep surprising each other and keep each other on our toes. so fun.
